Fun Prizes For Baby Shower Games

Planning a baby shower can be both fun and stressful. Choosing the right games, the right people to invite, the right decorations and food can all make or break a baby shower. One thing that many baby shower organizers forget, however, is to include fun prizes for the games. Luckily, shower prizes aren’t about being expensive, over-the-top, or high fashion. The key to giving great shower game prizes is simple, fun, relaxing gifts.

Since baby showers are traditionally all-female parties, it’s important to remember to cater to things that women of all generations enjoy. So, one great game prize would be a set of hand/body lotions that smell wonderful. Women of all ages enjoy having a lotion which both hydrates and perfumes, right?

Another great gift (or game prize) for baby shower participants is gourmet chocolate. Not many people would want to turn down a small box of their favorite kind of chocolate truffles. For the party planner who wants everything to match, giving gourmet chocolates that have an outer shell (or topping) that matches the party’s color scheme will make this baby shower gift hard to pass up.

In the same line of thought, scented candles which are specifically colored to match the party’s décor also make great gifts for the games’ participants. Soothing scents like lilac, lavender, and verbena are excellent options for party planners who want to add a luxurious and relaxing touch to the party favors. (It’s also worth mentioning that lavender has been known to help soothe expecting mothers who have morning sickness!)

For the party planner who really enjoys lavishing the shower game winners giving away gift certificates for manicures or pedicures is a great way to go. Many participants will want to win that prize and the best thing about giving a gift certificate for a manicure is that it’s an affordable yet luxurious game prize that shows the guests your appreciation for attending.

Planners who have a comic side to them might want to give gag prizes for the participants. Assuming that attendees have a sense of humor, this is a great way to go! Filling a baby bottle with Chardonnay and asking them to drink it can often be a funny booby prize. Giving the baby shower game winner a “baby style” hair makeover also will give the guests a good laugh for the rest of the baby shower. Remember, it’s smart to give gag gifts only if you are sure that your guests appreciate your sense of humor!

Lastly, remember that what makes a baby shower amazing really aren’t the gifts. The memories that are attached to those gifts are what matter the most.

How To Plan Easy Baby Shower Games

It’s time for the baby shower, and one of the most notorious baby shower activities is playing some simple games. Easy baby shower games will give everyone a chance to have a little fun while they are mingling and celebrating the occasion. Games can also help pass the time in case things are not going as smoothly as planned.

Although most people have played many of the traditional baby shower games, a great way to keep everyone interested is to mix in a few games that aren’t as common. Remember that when it comes to shower games, just be creative and have fun. Don’t feel pressure to come up with amazing activities. Everyone will still have fun regardless of the games.

A very popular baby shower game that takes very little effort and planning is to play the clothespin game. When all of the guests arrive, they get either a baby diaper pin or a clothespin and they connect it to their clothes. Whenever anyone says the words “baby” for the duration of the game, the person who said it has to give their pin to the person who heard them say it. At the end of the game, whoever has collected the most pins wins a small prize. This game is fun because most people will not be able to avoid saying “baby” while at a baby shower.

Baby trivia is a great way to encourage the guests to bond, and it will no doubt leave everyone laughing and having a good time. Depending on how many people are in attendance, divide the guests into at least two teams and ask them trivia questions.

However, instead of general trivia, tailor the questions so that they relate to the parents-to-be. You can ask questions such as: When did the happy couple meet? What day is the baby supposed to be born? Just make sure you don’t ask questions that are so obscure that no one knows the answers. It is a good idea to ask general questions, instead of more difficult ones that only a few people would know. This will keep the game interesting and keep everyone on their toes.

Everyone loves to look at baby pictures, so prior to the shower, have the guests email you a copy of their own baby pictures. On the day of the shower, put all of the pictures on a poster board and have the guests guess which picture belongs to each guest. You don’t have to have a prize for this game, but it will just be a fun way for everyone to catch a glimpse of everyone’s childhood. It is also a good idea to have baby pictures of the mommy and daddy-to-be on the board as well.

A fun and easy baby shower game that never goes out of style is the guess how many ____ are in the baby bottle game. Fill a baby bottle with some type of small candy and have those who attend guess the total count of pieces of candy contained in the bottle. Just make sure you have an accurate count of the candy so you can accurately choose a winner.

Keep in mind that no matter what games you choose, the guests will have a fun time celebrating the upcoming birth.
